Re: archival Kreutz comet

Nice! Also Worachate, I reported a C2 Kreutz from 20071024 earlier in the month that was visible with the duo of known Kreutz, visible in five images and consistent. What are your thoughts on that one? I asked Trygve and Peter for their thoughts and they agree that it has a good chance.

Hello Rafał,

I have looked at it several times already and I think it has high potential to be real. Your first four positions seem to be good but I'm not sure about the remainder.

I think I can see these possible positions:
15:06 252 920
15:30 269 903

I'm rather hesitant about endorsing it until now because, as Robert said, the quality of the images is bad. However, I think I will do to encourage Karl to check it.

Re: Help with old comet report

Hello Peter,

I don't think both of them are real.

2020-03-08 : Coordinates are inconsistent. If you connect them, it's not moving in straight or curve line.
2020-01-20 : Coordinates may not look too bad. The problem of this object is inconsistency of morphology.
If real objects are moving along the trajectories of both of them on that dates, they are non-group, not Marsden.

I did check this one, it is "interesting", ill have to download FITS to be sure. Those jpegs are complete crap, they are not "useless", but they are close to that in quality.

The cosmic ray storm doesnt help, either.

Please, could anyone check this one and give me own opinion about it?

Hi everyone

Could you please help me with an old comet report?

On 25 February 2021 I reported the following comet. It was never confirmed.

I went back and looked at the positions again and I think it has a good chance of being real. Can you please have a look at the positions and let me know what you think? If you agree that it is real then I will ask Karl to have another look at it.

Thanks

Ill give it a look. Also your first comet has brightened and will enter C2 before 8UT it seems, but the data stream will unfortunately end before that, so we cannot do a "known comet now entering" yet. It should be in the next image, if it gets released in time.
